Crooked Teeth - Papa Roach

Papa Roach are back with their ninth studio album, Crooked Teeth! Some very interesting collaborations on this record - Skylar Grey and Machine Gun Kelly would not be the names that come to mind when you think of a rock album! We know that Linkin Park changed their sound drastically with One More Light (Click here to read the review) - could Papa Roach be doing the same? Let's find out.

If you're not familiar yet - here is a rundown of how we rate stuff:

Conclusion

John - Firstly, let me just say what a catchy album this was. I will definitely be adding at least 4 or 5 of the tracks to my playlists. Technically speaking however, Crooked Teeth is extremely frustrating. The highs are really, really very good. Born For Greatness, American Dreams and Sunrise Trailer Park are excellently written for the most part, and possess the strongest instrumentals on the album.

The lows though? All filler my friend. What's frustrating is that, yes, this record does contain some real diamonds of songs, but to get to them you have to muddle your way through the rest of them. A good album nonetheless though. For fans of Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit - if you're a fan of either, chances are you'll love this.

Overall - 3/5

Tilly - I'm going to be completely honest and say I'd been avoiding this album for a while because my expectations were so low. I love Papa Roach's singles for the most part, but a whole album felt like it would be a bit of a drag? I was pleasantly surprised by Crooked Teeth, sure it has it's fillers as most records do, but they were few and far between. The biggest disappointment I suppose was the collaboration with Skylar Grey. It was far too bland. However, Born For Greatness, American Dreams and Sunrise Trailer Park were absolutely phenomenal. It's a shame that I still feel that there was a something missing from the album, and I can't quite put my finger on it. Maybe it was just a little bit predictable? I'd still recommend listening to this if you're a fan of rock music because it is a very catchy record. Just don't expect something groundbreaking.

Contact - Pharmakon

And here is the long awaited unusual review we've been teasing you about all day! I can already tell you, although I'm sure you'll have already guessed by the album cover, this is not an album for the faint hearted. Contact is a grotesque take on the transcendence of our physical bodies. Known for her unique live performances, Margaret Chardiet is the woman behind Pharmakon, and this album marks the ten year anniversary of the project. The cover has already made us incredibly uncomfortable, and that's before we've even begun to listen to the 'death industrial' music held within. But sometimes the most incredible things are those that evoke a powerful emotion, so we're definitely going into this with an open mind! Let's get right down to it! Our wonderfully superb ratings system awaits you below! 1 - Shouldn't have been recorded 2 - Filler 3 - Above average filler 4 - Killer 5 - Career defining masterpiece Track 01 - Nake

The Search For Everything - John Mayer

John Mayer is certainly many things - diverse, undoubtedly talented, and perhaps maybe a little unhinged? His latest album The Search For Everything was released in two 'waves', however he's now collectively put them together to create a full LP. This may lead to the record feeling disjointed, but I guess we shall find out soon enough!  As always, here's a reminder of our rating system.. 1 - Shouldn't have been recorded 2 - Filler 3 - Above average filler 4 - Killer 5 - Career defining masterpiece Track 01 - Still Feel Like Your Man John - 2.5/5 Tilly - 4/5 Track 02 - Emoji of a Wave  John - 3.5/5 Tilly - 4/5 Track 03 - Helpless John - 3.5/5 Tilly - 3.5/5 Track 04 - Love on the Weekend John - 2/5 Tilly - 4/5 Track 05 - In The Blood John - 5/5 Tilly - 5/5 Track 06 - Changing John - 4/5 Tilly - 3/5 Track 07 - Theme from 'The Search for Everything'  John - 4/
