About Us

Rewind to the 9th October 2014. We - John and Tilly - had just started talking on a dating website and quickly realised that we were pretty much made for eachother. We met for the first time in February 2015 and everything just blossomed from there. We had moved in together by November the same year and here we are today, creators of Kritikon.

The Kritikon Company started back in November 2015 after we realised that we wanted to share our views on music with the world.. Unfortunately, our views were considered rather controversial, and it was safe to say that people didn't take all too well to them. This lead to the site being shut down temporarily until May 2017, when we decided to revamp the website, branch out into social media, review more varied artists and bands, and keep our reviews short and sweet - offering honest and impartial insights into the latest that the music industry has to offer.

About John

My taste in music is probably one of the things I am most proud of - the way it has changed and varied over the years has helped define who I am as a person. I will listen to pretty much any genre depending on what mood I'm in, which I think also helps me as a reviewer! I currently work in a technology store, as a merchandiser - something that offers great job satisfaction at the price of lots of physical work. A huge plus point is that we get to play our own music in store though. Definite perk. I am an introvert and proud, although I do enjoy a night out with the other half. Also a big believer in enjoying the small things in life. The largest of which is music.

About Tilly

I currently work for a charity, which as rewarding as it is, is incredibly hard work. On my days off I read, read and read some more. It's safe to say that I am a complete and utter bookworm and devour on average one book per day if I have that day to myself. I'm definitely a quiet person. I love my own company, and am happiest when I'm on my own with the exception of spending time with John. Music became a big part of my life when I was diagnosed with anxiety and depression. The way lyrics can speak to you, and make you feel like you're not alone with what you're dealing with is why I adore it so much. Whilst I look for great lyrics in music, I also love fun, catchy hooks and appreciate great production too. I wouldn't say I'm easily pleased, but I'm certainly no Simon Cowell either.

Last Young Renegade - All Time Low

All Time Low are one of the biggest and most well known rock bands around at the moment. Back with their seventh studio album, Last Young Renegade, they are the subject of our latest review! The band from Baltimore, MA have long been at the forefront of pop-rock, along with the likes of Paramore, Fall Out Boy, and Panic! At The Disco - although out of those, All Time Low have definitely been the most consistent with their sound. Pairing catchy choruses with well-written and at times satirical lyrics, along with instrumentals that you'll be humming along to for days, is what these guys do best. But is their well-worn recipe still fresh? Find out here, as we review their latest efforts. However, we have an extensive list of upcoming releases that we're excited to get to, as well as albums that were released during our brief departure, so without waiting any longer, here is our review of indie pop/rock trio Haim's latest release Something To Tell You.  Since we've been away for ages - and it's just what we do! - here's a refresher of our ratings system.  1 - Shouldn't have been recorded 2 - Filler 3 - Above average 4 - Killer 5 - Career defining masterpiece Track 01 - Want You Back John - 4/5 Tilly - 4/5 Track 02 - Nothing's Wrong John - 3/5 Tilly - 3.5/5 Track 03 - Little Of Your Love John - 3.5/5 Tilly - 3.5/5 Track 04 - Ready For You John - 3/5 Tilly - 3

The Gag File - Aaron Dilloway

A slight departure from our usual reviewing now - we are about to delve into the world of noise music. Genre icon Aaron Dilloway released his new album last month and it's been well-received by most of the experimental music community.
